"When I play music I feel like a different person. Nothing can bother me it's my Escape" 24 year old DJ EXcape has been providing partygoers with their own escape for years now. Born in Jamaica in 1984, Phillip Bowes has always had a love for music even as a small child. With a father and an uncle both involved in the Jamaican music scene, each owning their own respective sound systems it was natural that the neophyte would follow in those footsteps. After moving to Elmhurst queens in 1991 to live with his grandmother Excape found himself struggling to adapt to the fast pace of the city and found music as his main refuge. Excape explains "One thing that's the same no matter what is the rhythm. Nothing else matters as long as you can feel the music" in 1994 he received his first pair of turntables as a present from his mother. Soon after he was honing his craft spending countless hours on the wheels of steel, when he wasn't in school or carrying records for his uncle. Carrying those records paid off as in 1998 at age 14 DJ EXcape played his first house party. However high school was just beginning and education was his mothers top priority so his budding dj carry was brought to halt by the reality that he had to study and earn the grades he needed to graduate. Upon graduating high school in 2002 DJ EXcape made a triumphant return to the party scene and began making a local name for himself playing at neighborhood house parties. House parties turned into small lounge gigs and before anyone knew it Excape was knee deep in the world of club dj's. In 2007 his career really began to take shape as he landed a gig as the house DJ for Krystal's Gentlemans Club in Queens,NY. Not only was this an opportunity of a lifetime it also opened up a myriad of opportunity for the then 23 year old. It was here that he met Dj Pistolero who took the upstart DJ under his wing, allowing him to open up for him as well as landing him gigs in clubs throughout the Tri-state area. Now a full fledged member of the upstart RBI DJ team, you can find him rocking the house at any one of New York City's hot spots. He is also the personal DJ for the upcoming Brooklyn,NY based rapper D.I and his A&O Records©. With his demand increasing exponentially and his skills steadily getting sharper the sky is the limit for the soft spoken DJ who claims "I'd much rather let my hands do the talking and speak through the music"
